Krishna's birthday. You fast during the day. The puja is at midnight. Then you rock the cradle and eat.

मुख्य समय आधी रात है।
कृष्ण का जन्म आधी रात को हुआ था। इसलिए पूजा आधी रात को होती है, शाम को नहीं। हर शहर में समय थोड़ा अलग होता है, इसलिए स्थानीय पंचांग देख लें।
- 1उपवासदिन भर
ज़्यादातर लोग सूर्योदय से अनाज नहीं खाते। फल, दूध, और सिंघाड़े या राजगिरे का आटा चलता है।
- 2मूर्ति को नहलाकर सजाएँशाम
लड्डू गोपाल को नहलाएँ, कपड़े पहनाएँ और पालने में लिटाएँ। कई घरों में दरवाज़े से मंदिर तक छोटे पैरों के निशान बनाते हैं।
- 3जन्मआधी रात
दूध, दही, शहद, घी और चीनी से अभिषेक करें। फिर आरती करें, शंख बजाएँ और पालना झुलाएँ।
- 4व्रत खोलेंबाद में
पहले माखन-मिश्री चढ़ाएँ। फिर पंजीरी और बाकी प्रसाद बाँटें।
कुछ राज्यों में अलग तरह से
- महाराष्ट्र और गुजरातअगले दिन दही हांडी। दही की मटकी ऊँचाई पर बाँधी जाती है और मानव पिरामिड बनाकर तोड़ी जाती है।
- मथुरा और वृंदावनपूरे पिछले हफ़्ते झूलन और रास होते हैं।
- तमिलनाडुइसे गोकुलाष्टमी कहते हैं। दरवाज़े से कोलम के पैरों के निशान, साथ में सीडै और मुरुक्कू।
तारीखें अपने फ़ोन में रखें
ज़्यादातर लोग त्योहार से दो दिन पहले तारीख देखते हैं। तब तक सामान मंगाने में देर हो चुकी होती है। पूरे साल की तारीखें अपने कैलेंडर में जोड़ लें।
